a big year

2016 is shaping up to be a big year for SmallTall Ministries.

I’ll be teaching in three countries in the next few weeks:

  • a “Reading the Bible with Jesus” weekend in Leamington, Ontario with a cluster of churches from Essex County (Jan 22-23)
  • speaking/teaching/singing at Pastors Week at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana from Jan 25-28
  • speaking/teaching/singing in Kolkata, India (including team-teaching with my Dad!) at a conference of the Church of North India, and with Mennonite/Anabaptist leaders (Feb 6-20)

Today we did the final tweaks to the audio master of the new CD that will be coming out very soon.

I have been named an instructor in the new Anabaptist Learning Workshop – a joint initiative of Mennonite Church Eastern Canada and Conrad Grebel University College (I’ll be leading a workshop on April 23). And Anabaptist Mennonite Bible Seminary is bringing me on as a Teaching Associate with their Church Leadership Center, to take the “Reading the Bible With Jesus” experience on the road and make it available to congregations and communities across North America.

And did I mention the Masters thesis (on Jesus as Interpreter of Scripture in John’s Gospel) that I’m supposed to be getting done as well?

I’ll also be performing at the Skylight Festival this year (along with such luminaries as Martyn Joseph and John Bell as well as personal friends and colleagues Diem Lafortune and Theatre of the Beat, among many others).

That’s just the start of what’s coming this year. Have a look at the confirmed schedule so far, and check back periodically as new events are confirmed.

It’s very exciting, and (I’ll admit it) a little bit daunting. Your prayers and support are much appreciated. I am deeply grateful for the continued opportunities to live this vocation of finding creative ways to engage young an old in the ongoing scriptural drama of God’s mission in the world. I look forward to seeing you, singing with you, and learning with you in 2016!
